Teaching jobs in government schools and colleges represent one of the most stable and respected career paths in India. From primary school teachers to university professors, government teaching positions come with excellent pay scales, long holidays, and job security.
In Tamil Nadu, teacher recruitment is primarily conducted by the Teacher Recruitment Board (TRB) and the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC). The TN TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) is a mandatory qualification for teaching posts in Tamil Nadu government schools. TRB recruits PG Assistant Teachers (for Classes 11–12), BT Assistant Teachers (for Classes 6–10), and Laboratory Assistants.
At the central level, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), and DSSSB (Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board) recruit PGT, TGT, and PRT level teachers. The CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) is mandatory for KVS and NVS teacher recruitment. University-level teaching positions (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor) require NET/SET qualification and are recruited through respective universities and UGC.
