The Union Cabinet approved the continuation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme for the next five years, till 2030-31, with a total financial outlay of ₹3.15 lakh crore, as announced on 1 August 2026.
Background
PM-KISAN, launched in December 2018, provides income support of ₹6,000 per year to eligible landholding farmer families, paid in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
